We have been preparing for this research cruise for several months and it's hard to believe that we are leaving the country in just 11 days! There have been a few bumps during the planning process, not the least of which was the shutdown of the US government but here we are, planning away despite it all! We have most of our equipment packed and shipped down to Punta Arenas, Chile which is quite a relief, but I don't think any of us have started packing our personal belongings yet. Katie, Dan and I will be arriving in Punta Arenas on Nov 11th so we can make sure all the equipment arrived and that the crab traps are prepared and ready to go. Rich is also busy getting ready for his trip to the Arctic next week. We are all looking forward to reading about his travels as we prepare for our own!
