Happy Thanksgiving everyone (to
learn more about this US holiday, click here)! We were all eager
to see if we would have a good old-fashioned thanksgiving meal and the cooks
did not disappoint us! The food was amazing! We had turkey, mashed potatoes,
stuffing, fruit salad, and much more. The dessert table was equally impressive.
It was quite challenging to figure out how I could possibly fit pumpkin pie,
cherry pie AND chocolate cake into my stomach after such a big meal. In the
spirit of thanksgiving, I will say that our group is very thankful to everyone
who made this trip possible. We are extremely grateful to NSF and the United States
Antarctic Program for funding this project and for taking such good care of us
throughout the preparation for this cruise. We are thankful for the crew of the
Nathaniel B. Palmer, who have all been enthusiastic and delightful
to work. We are also thankful for our Principle Investigators, Rich Aronson,
Jim McClintock and Sven Thatje who have been in constant contact with us from
our home bases. These are but a few, but there are so many people whose help we
are so thankful for (including friends, families, and everyone who has taken an
interest in our blog). We wish you all a pleasant day filled with good company
and great food!
