Tour of the Palmer

Welcome to the Nathaniel B. Palmer.
Your virtual tour guides will be Ally and Dan. Dan is wearing a Mustang suit that keeps him safe when he is working outside on the ship.

This is one of the dry labs.  All of these monitors help keep the science and ship activities running smoothly.

On the main deck there are four science laboratories.  This is where we store our crab samples and work on analyzing our data.

One deck above the science laboratories are the cabins. Along this hallway are Dan and Ally’s cabins

Each stateroom has a set of bunk beds, a desk, and a window with a view of the ocean. The TV has channels showing a different view of the ship from the outside. Because one of the technicians on the ship is a winter sports fan, one channel on the TV is always playing snowboarding and skiing videos.

One of our favorite places on the ship is the galley (aka the mess hall).  Our chef is from Louisiana and everyone loves his cooking.  Last night he made grilled salmon with Chilean king crab and a cream sauce.  Along with that, there are always lots of fresh cakes and cookies! Because people are working on the ship around the clock, there are always snacks available.

Next, our tour takes us to the gym, where you can work off all of the chefs good cooking. The Nathaniel B. Palmer has everything you might need to be a home away from home.

The Nathaniel B. Palmer is a great American scientific research ship!
