Splicing and Sailing

We have been working extremely hard yesterday and today with setting up all the king-crab pots. Thankfully, Katie is a skilled sailor so she has been teaching all of us a method called “splicing” where one piece of rope is interwoven through another piece of rope. This method keeps the rope strong throughout the line and decreases the likelihood that we will lose our crab pots. We have been splicing ropes all yesterday and today and we are currently scheduled to set sail at 10 pm tonight. Our time and internet access is still very limited at the moment so I will post more details hopefully tomorrow.
